Gruesome murder of Bijoy Shil of Shibpur, Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh

An Investigative report from HRCBM

I, Rabindra Ghosh of HRCBM-Dhaka chapter, Bangladesh along with Adv. Shishir Kanti Majumder of HRCBM-Feni, Bangladesh proceeded to Brahmanbaria district on 8th of April,2003 at about 11.00 hours in the morning  by Bus 140 kilometers from Dhaka and reached Brahmanbaria town  at about 3-30 p.m. on receipt of information in the daily "Janakantha" dated 7th of March, 2003 that Bijoy Chandra Shil son of Late Makhan Chandra Shil of Shibpur village under Nabinagar P.S., Dist. Brahmanbaria was shot dead by some terrorists in the broad day light on 20.02.2003 and still the witnesses of murder case are being threatened by the terrorists.

First, we went to the office of Mr.Rafiqul Islam Majumder, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Brahmanbaria to know the exact location, place of occurrence and also the development of Bijoy murder case. Mr.Rafiqul Islam informed us that the exact location of Shibpur is 25 kilometers from B.Baria and the respective police station is Nabinagar. We came to know that there is no road communication to go to Nabinagar and Shibpur. The only communication is by boat and by foot. Accordingly we decided to stay in a Hotel Brahmanbaria and on the next day we proceed to the place of occurrence by engine boat/steamer. ... more.....

Gruesome attacks on minority men and women at Gazipur

On 28th of March,2003 at about 10-30 a.m. I, Advocate Rabindra Ghosh and Prof. Ashoke Taru of HRCBM-Dhaka rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to see Deepak Mallick, a wounded victim being treated after an outrageous attack by the terrorists on 24th March, 2003 at his village home "Degoliar Teck" on the basis of horrific news published in different dailies in Bangladesh.
